Hello

My name is Vi Phan (she/her)

I am grateful to have over 13 years of combined experience in the helping profession and in the field of psychotherapy, working with people from all identities, and continuing to feel passionate and dedicated to this work.

My clinical experience includes helping people with a range of experiences, such as depression & anxiety, burnout, communication improvement, relationship challenges, parenting support, exploring identities, intercultural and/or intergenerational navigation and trauma.

Therapy offers a safe space and dedicated time to foster meaningful change through deepening our understanding of how we are shaped by our life experiences and the connected emotions, thoughts and behaviours.

About Me.

As a therapist, I consider it an honour to be able to be a part of people’s exploration of their identity and their stories. My interest and curiosity in working with people with a range of life experiences have played a significant role in shaping how I provide therapy and connect with people who come from diverse backgrounds.  I hope to share my own passion for learning and growth in my work with clients.

My Approach

My therapeutic style is authentic, warm, compassionate, curious, person centered and nonjudgmental. As your therapist you will have my full attention, mindful presence and a connection where you feel seen, understood and supported to make impactful changes in your lifeThe fast-paced nature of the world we live in has taught me the importance of pausing to reflect on whether we are living with clarity and intention.

Education + Professional Experience

I hold a BA in Criminology and graduated from the University of Toronto with a Master’s of Social Work.  I bring clinical experience that blends psychology with a systems understanding, allowing for a holistic view. Additionally, I have a certificate from Cornell University in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

More specifically, my work is guided by an anti-oppressive and anti-racist framework, mindfulness, experiential and somatic approaches, relational focus, interpersonal neurobiology and trauma guided support. With my extensive training, experience and education, I am able to offer a tailored approach that incorporates various therapeutic techniques that meets the individual's needs and supports transformation. I have training and experience in a number of therapy modalities that include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Non Violent Communication (NVC), Relational Life Therapy (RLT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Mindfulness Cognitive Based Therapy (MCBT),  Solution Focused Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

More about me

I enjoy meeting new people and connecting through humour and food! I especially love meeting people who appreciate psychology, personal growth, meditation and expressing themselves creatively, along with those who have a passion for creating a kinder and more inclusive world. I am a mom to two curious, loving and creative children who keep me busy, especially with the amount of dirty laundry they manage to create for me. I embrace learning and find inspiration in meditation, contemplative practices, new trainings, books and podcasts related to psychology and wellness. It brings me great joy to share what I've learned and consequently my partner is often the first person to hear and see how I am shaped by my continued curiosity.

Please do not hesitate to get in touch. I offer a free 15-minute consult for you to explore whether I may be a good fit in supporting your therapeutic journey. Feel free to access online booking to schedule a consult.
